WAPDA faces a big challenge

Pakistan’s National Institute of Energy and Water (WAPDA) is facing the challenge of consumers paying bills after electricity theft switching to solar panels.

According to the survey, there are many people in the country who use electricity and transfer their system to solar when the bill becomes too high. Due to which WAPDA cuts their meters if they do not pay the bill so that they can get the meter returned by paying their dues, while the customers shift their system to solar instead of requesting the meter to be re-installed.

The company was suffering losses due to heavy power theft in KPK province.

A large number of consumers who paid bills to the company were present in Punjab province, which is shifting to civil panels in large numbers.

The company used to compensate its losses from the consumers paying the bill. The agency had proposed to the government to impose tax on the civil panel, but the government rejected it.
