According sources, the United Arab Emirates’ national security adviser, Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was tasked in May with the mission to strengthen relations in Kabul and fortify connections with the Haqqani’s, which plays a key role in Afghanistan’s internal security.
In a significant development, Sirajudin Haqqani, the Acting Minister of Interior for the Afghan Interim Government, made his inaugural public visit abroad to Abu Dhabi, engaging in high-level consultations alongside Mawlawi Abdul Haq Wasiq, head of the Taliban’s General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI).
The delegation held discussions with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and senior intelligence officials.
